ACAP - Active Career Advancement Project
pathways to Possibilities
Partnering with employers to support diversity and inclusion in the workplace

At ACAP, our philosophy is based on creating sustainable change in how we understand and engage talent. We are working to engage both employers and immigrant talent, providing them with the tools necessary to grow and overcome looming labour market issues. When working with us, you can rest assured that you will receive quality service, research based information, and sustainable solutions that will positively impact your organization.

ACAP Workplace Consultants work with a variety of employers from small companies looking to hire their first employees to large companies looking for training programs for staff, as well as assisting with review of HR materials to ensure clarity and inclusiveness.

Providing Solutions to Organizational Needs

Funded by the Government of Canada, ACAP provides free services to employers in Ontario and British Columbia. ACAP looks to mitigate a potential labour and skills shortage by assisting employers to better engage Internationally Trained Professionals who are highly qualified but underutilized.

Enrolling with ACAP means that you will be paired with a Workplace Consultant who will provide one-on-one consultations to better understand and assess your organizational needs. Our services in hiring, development, and retention will assist you in gaining a competitive advantage in a labour market that has an increasing demand for skilled labour. Based on this service model, the Workplace Consultant can assist in the following ways:

Program Timeline

Stage 1: Employer Engagement & Needs Assessment

During the initial meeting, the Workplace Consultant will provide an informational presentation accompanied by a Needs Assessment. The Workplace Consultant will then review the Assessment and provide options on services that are available specific to the identified need in either the hiring, development, or retention domains.

Stage 2: Program Implementation

The Workplace Consultant will provide services through a variety of methods including presentations, consultations, information sheets, and workshops. After services are provided, employers will utilize this new knowledge by creating action plans and implementing these plans into the workplace. The Workplace Consultant will check-in with employers to provide guidance and support as necessary.

Stage 3: Service Completion & Evaluation

Service completion occurs after the Workplace Consultant completes the list of services in the action plan and the employer has achieved outcomes. At this time, the employer will be provided with a program evaluation.

*We offer flexible service timeline based on organizational needs

Workplace Consultant was excellent. Very knowledgeable, patient, helpful, etc. She had some great ideas for me regarding hiring practices and provided a number of excellent resources to me. I would highly recommend Workplace Consultant to other business owners who are looking to grow their employee base.

The ACAP Workplace Consultant listened well and worked closely with us to assess our organizational needs…to develop an action plan, thoroughly researched our topics of interests, then created and delivered a unique and outstanding presentation and workshop to achieve some “diversity and inclusion” programming goals…ACAP addressed issues that immigrants frequently face in employment, such as being viewed as having a “lack of Canadian work experience,” and being deemed “overqualified”. Our staff felt that the session was extremely helpful to provide us with the knowledge and tools to effectively support New Canadians through the recruitment process…We would highly recommend ACAP’s valuable, supportive and consultative service…
